SUR TAAL SANGAM - ABOUT

Our vision

Sur Taal Sangam aspires to be the defining home for Indian Heritage Music — where learners find a guru, audiences discover concerts, and artists find a stage that honors the tradition.

"Music is not a pursuit apart from life — it is a way of living it."

Sur Taal Sangam was founded on the belief that Indian classical music belongs in everyday life. We are an open platform: presenting concerts, nurturing students, and collaborating with artists and organizations who share a commitment to this tradition.

CONCERTS & PERFORMANCES

Sur Taal Sangam has produced concerts spanning classical, semi-classical, Ghazal, and devotional traditions. Notable among these is Sangeet Nritya Mehfil — a rare concert uniting all three classical art forms in one live programme: Hindustani vocal, instrumental accompaniment, and Kathak dance, performed with live tabla and harmonium, featuring renowned Kathak artist Shivani Badgi.

Deepak has performed at the Consulate General of India on three occasions — as a solo vocalist, as director of Sur Taal Sangam students, and as coordinator and director of a multi-school student programme — as well as at Princeton University and Saint Peter's University (twice).

Sur Taal Sangam also has the honor of presenting Dr. Pooja Pavan Goswami (Ghazal), Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar (Hindustani Vocal), Vidushi Kaushiki Chakraborty (Hindustani Vocal — two consecutive NJ concerts), Smt. Indrani Chakraborty Khare (Hindustani Vocal), Pandit Milind Raikar (Hindustani Violin), Pandit Ravindra Katoti (Hindustani harmonium), and Padma Bhushan Sudha Raghunathan (Carnatic Vocal) — among others.
